And Keanu didn't ruin it! :-O I know! I didn't think I'd ever be saying that about one of his movies again. The only scene that had me rolling my eyes - and I really found it funny as opposed to annoying; the guy is so consistent - :-) was when Constantine (Keanu Reeves) tricked Balthazar (Gavin Rossdale). Oh, and Gavin was quite good; very understated.
Note: spoilers follow...
The attention to detail to exquisite. I loved the rows of water jugs three deep in Constantine's apartment. I loved the way the linoleum was still bunched up after Constantine was resurrected a second time. I loved all the ties on Gabriel's (Tilda Swinton) pants, and how the shot of Constantine between her legs highlighted her fabulous costume. Her whisper "Father" just before her wings were burned was incredible; and the way she began walking back into the pool as Constantine and Angela (Rachel Weisz) were leaving. (What was she doing? Trying to drown herself?) :-)
Oh, and it liked its 14A rating in Canada (i.e., suitable for people 14 and older). I know it may sound odd, but I liked the way they didn't go for the obvious intimate relationship between Constantine and Angela, or, more importantly, the numerous wet T-shirt shots open to them. It would've detracted from the movie.
Ending on a funny note: all the splashing water near the end had my friend crossing his legs; as soon as the credits started, he was outta there! :-) But guess what? Have any of you stayed for all the credits? They run a final scene after the credits where Chas (Shia LaBeouf) becomes a half-breed. Man, didn't that kid do a great job? And his dialogue was very well written; very believable. Anyway, now my friend wants to watch the whole thing again. I'm so there.
